Communication + Planning = Successful Project

E. Meier Contracting was asked in the Winter of 2011-2012 to evaluate all hard surfaces at a church in South St. Louis County. The church also has a school on site and the campus is heavily used by all sorts of groups 7 days a week from 7:30 am until 10pm. The church and school were originally built in the mid 1950’s and have been added on to and renovated. Thus the hard surfaces, both Concrete and Asphalt, are of varying ages and condition.

The evaluation process started with a meeting between E. Meier staff and the church Business Manager. The objective was to establish a list of priorities. In other words, which areas are most heavily used and most important? Which areas are least important? When is the best time of year to do removal and replacement of Asphalt and Concrete? What budget does E. Meier have to work with? How will schedule changes be handled? What forms of communication work best with the church offices? How will the school office be notified of scheduled work and schedule changes?
