City of Berkeley Parks: Sports Courts Replacement and Parking Lot Improvements
Project Client: City of Berkeley, MO
Project Partners: McConnell & Associates , Kennedy Fence
The City of Berkeley’s recent initiative to improve its community spaces included renovating its municipal swimming pool, sports facility upgrades, and parking lot improvements across three parks throughout the city: Jackson Park, Frostwood Park, and Independence Park. E. Meier was responsible for removing and replacing basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts at each of the three parks in addition to parking lot expansions and improvements.
With the municipal pool renovation likely to increase usage and attendance at that facility, the City saw the need to add additional parking closer to the pool and provide residents with a safe crossing at Frostwood Park. We constructed a new asphalt parking lot with concrete vertical curbs and sealcoated the existing asphalt surfaces to match the park’s fresh new look. Our team also installed a new speed table between the parking lot and the pool facility as a traffic calming and pedestrian safety measure.
In addition to the parking lot, E. Meier handled extensive work on the parks’ recreational courts. At Jackson, Frostwood, and Independence Parks, we rebuilt the basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, replacing the failed pavement with brand-new surfaces. We brought in our trusted partners to put the finishing touches on the courts: McConnell & Associates provided new, modern coatings for the courts, and Kennedy Fence built new enclosures surrounding them.
We are grateful to the City of Berkeley for the opportunity to serve the community, and we were honored to be part of a project like this that brings people together for fun and games outdoors!
