Parking Lot Repaving for Washington University in St. Louis
Project Client: Washington University in St. Louis
E. Meier Contracting partnered with Washington University in St. Louis to resurface a parking lot on Wydown Boulevard that serves both student campus housing and a nearby church.
The project presented some challenges as it entailed more than a simple asphalt overlay. The underlying surface of the lot had developed uneven spots and potholes, and the subgrade had even failed in some areas that required excavation and stabilization before paving. After rotomilling, we applied fiber-reinforced asphalt to help mitigate reflective cracking and extend the pavement’s lifespan.
Our team also worked within tight time constraints, with only three days available to complete the work so we didn’t disrupt access to the parking lot for weekend church services. By deploying an experienced crew and maintaining an efficient workflow, we delivered the finished lot on time and within budget.
As a long-term partner of Washington University, we worked closely with Chris Anderson, Grounds Services Manager, to coordinate the work and minimize disruption. The university’s parking management team provided advance notice to campus users, ensuring a smooth closure and reopening process.
